” Contemporary music on “Idol?” CLEARLY the end of the world is near!! This very well could be our final “American Idol” live blog together!??The contemporary quandary is one that’s always plagued the show. How are these contestants expected to compete in a current pop landscape after the show’s over when all they’ve had to do up to that point is sing Barry Manilow and tunes from the Great Depression? It baffles me that TV’s biggest show hasn’t figured that out yet. Pop music is less about singing ability and more about image. Just ask Lady Gaga. (h wait! The contestants can because rumor has it she’s slated to appear in some capacity this week.

I would not be surprised to see Pace bounce back and have a very good season in Chicago. And while I understand why the Rams did what they did (salary cap) in releasing Pace I can’t help but think that this one will nag at them … Joe Mather showed a lot of class in his comments made after the Cardinals sent him down to AAA Memphis to start the season. He’ll be back… in reference to yesterday’s blog some of you thought I asked about where to find the best cheesecake in the St. I asked for cheesesteak. But I’ll eat some cheesecake for desert and thanks for the tip on the cheesecake at Cafe Aroma in Edwardsville… Blues fans will have to gulp some antacid Friday night in preparation of rooting for the Chicago Blackhawks to defeat visiting Nashville… I was glad to see Brian Barden and Joe Thurston make the Cardinals’ 25-man roster; they deserve a shot… over at. baseballprospectus.
