When people like Svoboda see something suspicious they jump online and start blogging providing an instant report of potential criminal activity for neighbors to see one that Bellevue Police monitor and blog about as well. “They were very excited about the fact they would have instant information and also they kind of understand that if we don’t put it on here most likely it doesn’t concern them and so no sense trying to call and find something out? says fficer Reed. “I figure the benefits are you got a safer environment safer for the kids and your neighbors” says Svoboda. He admits blogging can detract from the personal side of Neighborhood Watch. For him that’s a downside but as one of the people charged with his neighborhood’s safety he’ll take all the tools he can get.
