Micro-blogging takes the virtual world by storm
Economic Times, India
It allows other people to have permanent
access to the details of one’s daily
life. As with traditional
web-based diaries or blogs, micro-bloggers create a profile with a blog service
and use it to post short entries. These posts are not normally more than 140
keystrokes long – shorter than a standard text message. One need not call up the
profile page with a browser to compose and read the micro-blog messages.

They are often angry, sometimes humorous, occasionally insightful and, periodically, inaccurate. And in the electronic age, they are likely here to stay, even though many remain dubious of their information and message. “The problem I think with blogging is sources,” said Lee Davis, a longtime Republican activist who has worked on numerous local campaigns. “And when you are talking about sources, are we talking about rumors? Are we talking about facts? Are we talking about speculation?”
At the same time, Davis has no doubts that blogs can influence political campaigns. “It’s like word of mouth,” he said. “You are speeding it up, a million times. ”

Secrets of Success Business vs. professional blogging

One of the main complaints I hear from small-business owners, physicians and even a few sales professionals is that they are frustrated and confused by much of the business-blogging advice being bandied about – from irrelevant monetization advice, such as using AdSense or other "ad revenue streams" to the "rules" handed out by long-time bloggers on what business people must and must not do on their business blogs. The bottom line is that business owners are different, and their approach to new-media marketing (including how they leverage their blog) should be different, too. As a business owner do you really care what some corporate techno-geek who’s been blogging in his or her free time since the turn of the century has to say about what you should and should not do with your business blog?
As an entrepreneur, you’re used to thinking outside the box. It’s what has gotten you to where you are today: in control of your destiny and beholden only to your customers and clients. Instead of hearing about over-zealous rules and made-up regulations of the blogosphere, you’d rather learn how to use blogs and new media to build relationships and boost sales. As a business owner, your goal is to actively promote your company with the highest-impact, lowest-cost methods available.

Blogging column was a home run
InvestmentNews, NY
Janowski is one of the first things that I read each week in InvestmentNews. He outdid himself in the Sept. 1 issue when he wrote about financial adviser blogs. We are in the process of designing and implementing our own blog – though we won’t call it a blog or allow comments to be posted to it. But as we did our research, I was amazed at the number of blogs that are purely advertising, or close to it, that aren’t labeled as such and don’t have the required disclaimers. I was starting to doubt the necessity of the legal review of our blog materials, because it is missing on so many sites. Your commentary confirmed that I am doing the right thing, even though it takes time to have our compliance group review all possible entries.
